How to Install

How to install the Anchormate®II

FIGURE 1. Place Bow Mount as shown, mark and drill 4 holes to match base of mount. Be certain to place Bow Mount in such a manner that the anchor will not interfere with the bow of the boat as it is being reeled in or out.

FIGURE 2. Boats with a deck, or no opening in bow plate, drill a 3/4" hole directly beneath rear pulley for anchor line to pass through. Attach Bow Mount with 1/4" bolts. Be certian to place Bow Mount in such a manner that the anchor will not interfere with the bow of the boat as it is being reeled in or out.

FIGURE 3. Place Anchor Reel on either side of boat near oar locks or transom as described. IMPORTANT! Be sure to leave clearance so that the reel will not interfere with other accessories. Mark and drill three holes to match reel mounting bracket. Attch with 1/4" bolts placing the 6 nylon washers on each side of hull to make installation watertight.

FIGURE 4. We recommend the use of a swivel pulley on boats with a deck or bow plate. To install, thread anchor line from reel through the unmounted swivel pulley (not furnished) then up through the deck or bow plate and over pulley on Bow Mount. Attach anchor to create tension on the line. Grasp swivel pulley and mark position under deck and beneath rear Bow Mount pulley. Be certain that pulley and anchor line do not rub against boat.

REEL OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

The ANCHORMATE® II is the ultimate in operating ease. To release the anchor, simply turn the control button in a clockwise direction. The anchor will drop until you release the button or the anchor hits bottom. To raise the anchor, simply turn the handle clockwise. DO NOT TURN BUTTON OR HANDLE COUNTER CLOCKWISE DAMAGE MAY RESULT.

BOW MOUNT OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Your ANCHORMATE®II BOW MOUNT will effectively store the anchor in a horizontal position in order to reduce rope tension and stress. As the anchor is pulled into the Bow Mount, the pivot arm eases the anchor up and over the front roller. The collar piece will then swing up to secure the anchor. As the anchor is released, the pivot arm pushes the anchor up and over the large roller enabling it to free fall.

SAFETY CHAIN

A safety chain locking device is included with your Bow Mount as an extra safety feature for securing the anchor. For proper installation, the first link of the safety chain should be fed through one of the side holes in the Bow Mount and fastened with a split ring as shown in the parts diagram. To secure the anchor, simply feed the safety toggle through the eye of your anchor. For best results, you may want to remove several links from the chain in order to make it as short as possible, yet enable the toggle to pass completely through the eye of the anchor.

LUBRICATION

The reel is factory lubricated with waterproof grease. However, periodic lubrication is required. To do this, follow the disassembly instructions. The frequency of this procedure will depend on the amount of exposure to the elements. The reel and bow fixture should be covered if possible when stored outside, and should be flushed with fresh water after each use in saltwater.

IMPORTANT

WHEN OPERATING BOAT AT HIGH SPEEDS IN ROUGH OR POUNDING WATERS, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE ANCHOR BE PLACED INSIDE THE BOAT OR THAT A CLEAT BE INSTALLED NEAR THE REEL SO THAT THE ANCHOR ROPE CAN BE SECURED. THIS WILL ELIMINATE ANY POSSIBILITY OF DAMAGING THE REEL MECHANISM WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF ANCHORS WEIGHING MORE THAN 18 POUNDS.
