How to Install

How to install the Anchormate®

FIGURE 1. Place Bow Mount as shown, mark and drill 4 holes to match base of mount. On boats with a deck, or no opening in bow plate, drill a 3/4" hole directly beneath rear Bow Mount pulley for anchor line to pass through. Attach Bow Mount with 1/4" bolts. Self tapping sheet metal screws or wood screws may be used depending on boat's construction.

FIGURE 2. Place Anchor Reel on either side of boat near oar locks or transom as desired. IMPORTANT! Be sure to leave clearance so that the reel will not interfere with the operation of oars or motor.

Mark and drill three holes to match reel mounting brackets. Attach with ¼" bolts placing the 6 nylon washers on each side of hull to make installation watertight.

FIGURE 3. Although line guides are not necessary, we recommend their use to keep anchor line along the side of the boat and out of the way. The guides are not furnished but are available at most marine dealers. Use as few as possible to keep line drag at a minimum.

FIGURE 4.  We recommend the use of a swivel pulley on boats which have a deck or bow plate. To install thread anchor line from reel, through line guides and the unmounted swivel pulley (not furnished), then up through deck or bow plate, and over pulleys in bow mount as shown.

Attach anchor, or weight, to take up line slack and cause tension on the line. Grasp swivel pulley (a tiller pulley is ideal) and position inside of bow directly beneath rear bow mount pulley. Mark holes and attach pulley. Be certain that the swivel pulley does not rub on deck or bow plate and that anchor line does not rub on edge of hole in deck.

YOU WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING:

  • 3 bolts or screws to fasten the Anchormate reel
  • 4 bolts or screws to fasten the bow mount

THE FOLLOWING ARE RECOMMENDED:

  • 1 swivel pulley at the bow
  • 2 line guides along the side of the boat

You should be able to purchase the above items at nominal cost from the dealer where you purchased your Anchormate.

REEL OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

The ANCHORMATE® is the ultimate in operating ease. To release the anchor, simply turn the control button in a clockwise direction. The anchor will drop until you release the button or the anchor hits bottom,To raise the anchor or, urn the handle clockwise. DO NOT TURN BUTTON OR HANDLE COUNTER CLOCKWISE DAMAGE MAY RESULT.

LUBRICATION

The reel is factory lubricated with waterproof grease, however, periodic lubrication is required. To do this, follow the disassembly instructions. The frequency of this procedure will depend on the amount of exposure to the elements. The reel and bow fixture should be covered if possible when stored outside, and should be flushed with fresh water after each use in saltwater.

IMPORTANT

WHEN OPERATING BOAT AT HIGH SPEEDS IN ROUGH OR POUNDING WATERS, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE ANCHOR BE PLACED INSIDE THE BOAT OR THAT A CLEAT BE INSTALLED NEAR THE REEL SO THAT THE ANCHOR ROPE CAN BE SECURED. THIS WILL ELIMINATE ANY POSSIBILITY OF DAMAGING THE REEL MECHANISM. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF ANCHORS WEIGHING MORE THAN 12 POUNDS.
